We have made it into a new year and a new decade. This year was a busy one; we’re proud to be able to say it’s been a time of much activity, with a lot of things happening in regards to the service we provide to Options traders. Especially in the news section of our website, which has grown rapidly this year with pieces on anything from trading psychology to trade ideas. To celebrate the year that was, here’s our pick of our three best trading articles of 2019.

1. Turning Options trading into more than a hobby

This article has been incredibly popular and for good reason. Although many trade for fun, the motivation for many traders is to move beyond trading as a hobby and start using it as a tool to grow your wealth or create extra income. Trading comes with a bit of a learning curve, and many of you are interested in knowing how you can turn it into more than just a hobby. That’s what we attempted to answer in this article.

There is a difference between trading for fun and doing it on a more professional level, and whether you’re an Options beginner or an experienced trader, you can turn Options trading into more than an after-hours hobby. Read the article.

2. Technical Analysis – Identifying a Breakout

Traders like to use price action to predict what may happen in the short term. With hundreds of different indicators to choose from, and many different approaches to trading, how do you get an edge? Reach Markets’ MD Patrick Nelson runs through some of the indicators that are commonly used and how to use these in one of our trading systems. He also highlights some of the important ingredients that will determine if you can profit from technical analysis. This is one of our most clicked on articles and offers in-depth, technical insight into something many traders are keen to learn more about – written by a professional trader. Read the article.

3. Optimising Your Iron Condors – The Key Findings so Far

Iron Condors are one of our favourite options strategies, and popular amongst experienced options traders. Many of our traders are interested in how they can optimise their iron condors and use them to an even greater extent. So we decided to backtest the numbers and look for ways to optimise the results of our LITT trading system.

About 6 months ago we created a number of hypotheses we wanted to test. Our quantitative analysts have been automating our rules and processes to brute force the tests on every asset tradeable over 36 months with no active management. Read this article to find our key findings on what we found in our tests, and for a link to the full report. Read the article.

2019 concluded the decade and we’re now looking towards the coming year with a drive to make it even better. We are going to regularly update our website with trading and investment related content. Make sure you are subscribed to our newsletter and Facebook so you never miss out on an article. We’d like to wish you good luck with 2020 – Happy new year!
